I didn't cut my headpipe, but there is about 1/2" of it that wouldn't fit into the muffler. As a result, I could only fit one bolt on the mounting arm. I put plenty of Locktite on it, and I hope that works. I'll let you know if is doesn't! The heat shield does a nice job of covering up the joint. I'm thinking that's probably why they supplied it.
